Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (Goyo: The Boy General), also known simply as Goyo, is a 2018 Philippine historical epic film starring Paulo Avelino as the titular Gregorio “Goyo” del Pilar, the youngest General during the Philippine–American War, who died in the Battle of Tirad Pass.
The film is an indirect sequel to the critically and commercially successful 2015 film Heneral Luna, which chronicled Antonio Luna’s life.
Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral tells the story about the life of General Gregorio del Pilar. As one of the youngest generals in the Revolutionary Army, he was known for the successful assault on the Spanish barracks in the municipality of Paombong, his victory on the first phase Battle of Quingua and his last stand at the Battle of Tirad Pass during the Philippine-American War.
Because of his youth, he became known as the “Boy General”. He was also known as a ladies man and was described by National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin as the “Byron of Bulacan”
